The LeClaire Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire at 21633 280th Avenue, just north of the city at 11:48 pm. LeClaire Fire survived another Tug Fest! We were very busy this year with 21 calls in the 3 days of the festival! We had weather issues to deal with from HEAT and HUMIDITY to rain, wind and lightning but were able to hold the fireworks on Friday night and the Tug on Saturday. The LeClaire fire Department performed Auto Extrication training on Tuesday June 29th. We trained with our new rescue struts that are capable of holding vehicles in their current position, no matter the extreme, while the jaws of life are used to get the victims out. LCFD would like to thank H&H Towing from Bettendorf Iowa for bring the cars out to train with!

At approximately 1am on 6/21/10 the Le Claire fire Department was dispatched to a semi trailer on fire at the 306 mile marker on Interstate 80. Upon arrival the trailer was fully engulfed in flames. Interstate 80 was shut down for a short time to extinguish the fire and then opened back up for traffic. Thanks to our neighboring department Princeton Fire for bringing down

Attached is a picture of a CFL light bulb used in a bathroom. A subject turned it on and then smelled smoke after a few minutes.
